Homer, GA

Banks County was created in 1858 from parts of Franklin and Habersham Counties. It was named for Dr. Richard E. Banks, a circuit-riding physician.

Homer is the county seat of Banks County, incorporated on December 19, 1859. The city of Homer was named after Homer Jackson, a prominent early settler.

There are 9.56 square miles in Homer, and it has a population of approximately 950.
