Baldwin is situated on the Appalachian Continental Divide in Banks and Habersham Counties.  It borders the bigger city of Cornelia and is home to the
Habersham County airport.

The biggest employer in Baldwin is Fieldale, which is primarily chicken processing.

Baldwin's area is 3.6 square miles. As of 2007, the population was 2,935.
